Drapes and Curtains in Your Space
There are many important accessories that help contribute to the overall theme of your home. From the various pieces of small decor sporadically spread through the various rooms, to more dominant pieces such as furniture; there are many important elements that help make a home a home.
One important accent that helps to determine the theme of a space while simultaneously providing an important functionality are the various styles of drapes and curtains. These fantastic accessories come in a wide array of different designs and help to bring privacy to your space by putting a barrier on the window that people outside your home cannot see through (although sheer curtains do show silhouettes).
Popular Styles in Drapes and Curtains
Drapes and curtains come in a wide variety of different styles and designs. From functional blackout drapery to more fashion conscious styles that rely more so on patterns and details upon the curtain over the functionality of blocking sunlight.
Among some of the more popular styles include drapes and curtains that exhibit modern design elements. The main reason for this is due to the fact that there has been such an increase in popularity over modern design. From the seemingly simple patterns to the vastly neutral based color schemes, modern accessories are easy to incorporate into pre-existing themes and provide a facet in which to use a particular accessory in a number of different spaces.
Functional Drapes and Curtains
Functional drapes and curtains revolve more so around performing a specific task over providing a viable accent. One of the more widely used type of functional drapery is the insulated curtain. These types of curtains, also referred to as blackout curtains, are different than your everyday drapery panels in that they are primarily manufactured much heavier.
These types of curtains serve the purpose of both blocking out light efficiently and effectively, while simultaneously providing as an additional barrier of insulation for the window, that in itself tends to let a great deal of warm or cool air into the house, posing an energy saving nightmare.
Stylish Designs
In additional to the more functional types of drapes and curtains, there are an equally large number of designs that exhibit stylish aspects over functionality. Clearly, a curtain is going to assist in blocking out some light that would otherwise penetrate the window. However, stylish curtains tends to be manufactured in different types of lighter material that allows for more flexibility in their overall designs, thus they are not effective as preventing light penetration as are blackout designs.
The wide variety of different materials that can be utilized make it possible to layer curtains as well, providing more depth and a unique feel to the window treatment.

I love my curtains and window décor. However my nets and blinds are because I like my privacy. My curtains are mainly visual , but are practical in the winter for conserving heat.
I am always willing to spend a bit extra on curtains as they can make or break the way a room looks.
